Even better after a comeback

Another great week! After the international break and with my team mates back to London, we got ready for the match at Tottenham. We knew it is one of the most important ones for us… There is a big rivalry between both clubs and, in White Hart Lane, as we could see, the atmosphere is always very intense… Personally I like to play there. I like stadiums where the crowd puts pressure on you, it keeps you alert!

The match was crazy, from one end to the other, especially in the second half, and with a great ending for us! It was a special match since we were playing against our former manager, André Villas-Boas, someone to whom I feel very grateful. I wish him good luck and I’m sure he will do a great job with Spurs…

The most important thing, aside, obviously, from the three points that keep us at the top of the table, is that the team showed personality to overcome difficult moments during the match. This is something we will need throughout the season in order to achieve our goals… It was very nice to see our fans enjoying. To know that they’re so happy on their way home, that’s our biggest satisfaction! Besides, it seems that the taste of victory is even better after a comeback ;-)

And from the Premier League to la Liga, another comeback. What a great victory of Valencia against Athletic Bilbao! In the 88 minute it appeared as the three points were going away from Mestalla, but, with fighting spirit and goals from Tino and Valdez, Valencia got a very important victory… In my opinion, Valdez had a big impact on the game: he was always dangerous, a pain in the neck for the defenders, and with the match about to expire he scored a stunning goal to keep the three points in Valencia. I’m happy for them! I hope this is the beginning of a winning streak!

Talking about former team mates, Aduriz scored, as usual (actually twice; great Aritz!), and so did Joaquín and Isco (to maintain Málaga’s momentum) and Jordi Alba (the opener for Barcelona at Deportivo La Coruña, 4-5 final score. What a match! It’s not easy to score four goals against Tito Vilanovas’s side…). Lastly, Míchel scored for Levante and they won 0-1. Congratulations to all of you, my friends!

Also, both Real Madrid (Higuaín & Cristiano) and Atlético Madrid (Falcao) won, so things remain the same… It’s going to be a close fight until the end!

I’m leaving you in a minute as I have to pack for tomorrow… We are flying to Ukraine to play against Shaktar Donetsk on Tuesday in the Champions League. This country and this stadium bring me good memories thanks to last summer’s Eurocup! I hope we can win to keep at the top of our group.

Let me tell you also that last week, I spent one afternoon in Shoreditch… I loved it! There’s a great atmosphere, with lots of shops, galleries, restaurants… Highly recommended! Little by little I’m getting to know every place in London… ;-)

See you next week! After two more victories? I hope so! ;-) Writing this blog every week is bringing me good luck… I hope our winning streak goes on!

Hug,

Juan
